What are the responsibilities and job description for the Territory Sales Representative position at Hanna Instruments?
Hanna Instruments a global leader in scientific instrumentation and quality testing is seeking a full time remote Territory Sales Manager for Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. The primary focus of the Territory Sales Manager is to maintain, develop and grow existing customer accounts as well as solicit new business from prospective customers in all market segments in the Southeast. The ideal person will bring a wealth of industry expertise and past customer relationships in which to further solidify Hanna’s place in key market segments, such as Food & Beverage, drinking water, wastewater, etc. Also, create relationships where customers see Hanna as a trusted scientific partner.
This role works closely with the Food & Beverage Segment Leader, Municipal/Industrial Segment Leader, Regional Sales Manager, and Marketing to help develop and execute the strategic plans for the key segments. This includes helping to develop the necessary tools and campaigns to effectively promote the brand, products and image. This role will gather and share important voice of customer which will assist in the promotion, organization and guidance to the team to maximize market penetration of our products and solutions.
Job Responsibilities for a Outside Sales Representative:
- Work with the Regional Sales Manager to help achieve the overall targets for each segment in your territory as well as established individual key account sales targets.
- Develop and maintain a strong relationship built on mutual trust, respect and cooperation with direct customers and other channel partners, distribution management and strategic accounts.
- Assist in creating and implementing Account Plans for selected Strategic Accounts. Help to develop and promote strategic initiatives for these accounts across regions with the Regional Managers as needed.
- Call on established and prospective customers to create demand for Hanna’s laboratory instrumentation and solutions within the key industries. Document calls and results as required utilizing Hanna’s CRM system. Work within the system to build and manage a solid funnel moving our customers successfully through their sales journey.
- Develop a list of prospective customers by utilizing past relationships in order to schedule appointments and perform web demos. Actively solicits product opportunities, referring leads as appropriate to others.
- Assist in growing sales for the F&B, municipal, and industrial segments within given territory. Generate market interest and close sales by executing activities such as projects, surveys, campaigns, teaching, site visits and promotions.
- Will contact potential customers through cold calls and emails to identify customer needs and suggest our appropriate products/services. Work with the Apps and Product teams to customize product solutions and increase customer satisfaction.
- Attend trade shows and assist in the selection and preparation of samples and promotional materials.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for new products/services to further increase Hanna’s market share within the industry.
- Assist in the creation of relevant industry content to better engage current and potential customers and increase brand recognition and credibility.
- Follow up on sales leads generated from trade shows, marketing campaigns, website and other sources as needed.
- Utilize competitive information and product knowledge to increase market penetration by properly positioning our products and services to meet demand.
- Identify white spaces within our product line and present to the product and R&D teams.
- Join relevant associations and become a trusted subject matter expert in Hanna’s key market segments.
- Keeps Sales leaders informed on important matters that require immediate action or attention.
Knowledge and Skills required for a Technical Sales Representative:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or science related field
- 3-5 years of proven sales experience
- Direct experience selling to municipalities, food & beverage, and industrial customers a plus
- Industry experience, managing end user accounts, working with key strategic accounts
- The ability to read and understand technical articles related to applications for our products
- Must be comfortable speaking to groups of customers and industry professionals to promote the company's products and technologies.

- Clearly expresses oneself orally and in writing.
