Hanover College seeks a talented, team-oriented leader to serve as our next Registrar. Building on longstanding excellence in undergraduate liberal arts education, the College is developing partnerships for offering new innovative graduate and undergraduate programs. The ideal candidate will bring both experience in student records administration and the ability to manage and lead change. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Registrar has direct responsibility to lead and manage the Office of the Registrar. The Registrar upholds the academic integrity of undergraduate and graduate degrees and is responsible for all aspects of student registration; the integrity and maintenance of student academic records and course records; recommending and implementing academic policies and procedures; and ensuring that resources and support are available to deliver quality service to students, staff, and faculty.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Ensures compliance with academic, regulatory, and accreditation policies in the collecting, recording, maintaining, and reporting of student records
- Directs course scheduling, room assignment, final exam scheduling, catalog updates, registration, transfer coordination, transcript evaluation, articulation agreements, graduation application, record storage, and reporting
- Supervises Registrar Office operations and staff
- Provides timely, effective services and communications with all students, university units, and other stakeholders
- Maintains knowledge of current regulations, trends, and best practices through active engagement in professional organizations such as AACRAO and IACRAO
- Serves as primary administrator of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) for the institution
- Assists in planning process for all major Academic Events (Fall Convocation, Honors Convocation, Commencement, etc.)
- Verifies fulfillment of academic program requirements
- Authorizes transcripts and verifications of enrollment and graduation/fulfillment of academic program.
- Works in cooperation with the Office of Academic Affairs, department chairs, and faculty on a regular basis and/or as requested
- Participates in planning and organizing new student orientation sessions.
- Provides information to faculty, administrators, and students about academic rules and regulations
- Approves Change of Major, Extension of Incomplete Grade Deadlines, Late Add/Drop, and routine exceptions
- Works with the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs to draft and approve the academic calendar
- Oversees ordering of diplomas
- Serves on Committees as requested by Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, including Student Academic Assistance Committee, Curriculum Committee, Teacher Education Committee, the Readmission Committee, and other permanent and ad hoc committees
- Designs, presents, and implements new procedures for improving services provided by the Registrar Office
- Supervises the compilation and publication of academic statistics
- Conducts assessment of Registrar Office services and functions
- Shares School Certifying Official (SCO – VA benefits) duties with the Registrar's Assistant and SCO
Skills Required
- Familiarity with state and federal regulatory and accreditation guidelines
- Demonstrated expertise with higher education software systems (Jenzabar; Infomaker; Astra preferred) and Microsoft Office 365
- Knowledge of academic student record-keeping in a setting of higher education and of the compliance requirements thereof to external regulators or accreditors
- Ability to work with diverse constituencies, including those in higher education leadership, both individually and as a group

- Strong administrative skills and exhibits a service mentality toward all stakeholders

Experience Required
Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in higher education; direct experience with managing student records, registration, class scheduling, advising, and/or compliance in a small- to mid-size college or university
Education Required
Bachelor's degree; graduate degree preferred
