Position Purpose:
Represent our store's image in a positive manner by providing our customers with helpful, courteous service. Responsible for all functions, performances, results and staff in the meat department.
Qualifications/Skills:
Must be 18 years or older.
Must have two years of meat cutting experience.
One year of supervising experience, preferred
Honest, team-oriented person who has a good work ethic and productive nature.
Must have a friendly, courteous, service-oriented attitude.
Able to perform work independently to achieve company goals.
Able to direct and enforce company goals and policies to staff.
Able to keep confidential information.
Travel may be required.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Deal with customer concerns and/or complaints.
Order merchandise to meet deadlines and have adequate product and sale items.
Delegates responsibilities to department employees.
Meet store profit P/L goals and objectives established by the corporate office.
Responsible for the training of all new department staff.
Directs and enforces company policies to all department employees.
Knowledge of and compliance with all safe work practices, product, production and personnel safety.
Verify prices and make appropriate changes.
Cut meat product to desired cuts and packages to company standards, including but not limited to: beef, pork and chicken.
Grind Hamburger.
May work product through the smoker, including but not limited to; wieners, ring bologna, ham, sausage, brats, etc.
Knowledgeable about all meat items, cooking times, and internal temperatures.
Able to identify different cuts and kinds of meats.
Able to do cutting tests.
Pull expired meat products by date or looks.
Re-stock and fill meat department product.
Face and straighten meat department product in display cases.
Wrap and/or label product.
Follow sanitation practices and health regulations and wear appropriate attire.
Clean the meat department as needed.
Make decisions regarding store policies and functions.
Generates weekly department schedules by Thursday noon.
Create and make merchandise displays.
Checks-in merchandise to make sure the department receives what the invoice indicates.
Monitor inventory controls for meat department.
Produce and submit receiving records on a timely basis. General
Interaction with customers will be friendly, courteous, positive and enthusiastic.
Directs or shows customers where items are in the store.
Stays productive while punched in.
Greet customers by using the Ten Foot Rule.
Other duties as they are assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Lift 80lbs occasionally, lift 40lbs regularly.
Stand for the duration of work shift.
Reaching and pulling merchandise regularly.
Occasionally, work in a cooler that is 35 degrees Fahrenheit, 55 degrees Fahrenheit daily.
