Summary
Harbor Capital Advisors, Inc. (“Harbor Capital”) is currently looking for an Accounting Analyst to join our highly motivated and innovative Fund Administration and Analysis Team. This position represents an opportunity to be a part of a collaborative team that touches several aspects of fund administration for ETFs, mutual funds and CITs (collectively, the “Funds”) including but not limited to expense management and reporting, fund budgeting, board of trustees reporting, dividend distribution calculations, valuation pricing support, prospectus updates and various types of analyses and reporting. The successful candidate will be a self-starting, strong analytical thinker with a desire to contribute to the success of the team by ensuring the accuracy and timely delivery of work product, recommend and implementing process improvements and working toward the goals of the team, the department and firm at all times. This individual will have the opportunity to expand and grow their industry knowledge through a variety of complex work responsibilities and interdepartmental initiatives. The position also provides frequent valuable opportunities to work closely with senior management.
This position will be a hybrid opportunity and based in Chicago. Employees are currently expected to meet an in-office cadence requirement at least twice a week, one day being on Wednesday and a choice between either Tuesday or Thursday. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of annual fund budgets and review for periodic adjustments
- Calculate fund expenses and participate in fund invoicing process
- Assist in preparation of launching new products, liquidating products and merging funds
- Assist in supporting valuation decisions when a security is not pricing
- Prepare and analyze expense forecasting and other ad hoc reporting
- Participate in process improvement projects for utilization/implementation of new technologies
- Prepare and review monthly fund expense ratio analysis
- Prepare and/or review reporting and analysis for Harbor Funds/ETF Trust Board of Trustees
- Produce reporting for use in financial statements
- Participate in fund dividend distribution calculations and reporting
- Review of fund performance reporting

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited university
- 2-4 years of experience in the investment management industry, particularly in fund administration, financial reporting, or fund accounting
- CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
- Advanced understanding of financial instruments
- High attention to the detail and quality of deliverables
- Possess a self-motivated work ethic
- Strong analytical abilities
- Strong organizational skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Certification is a plus)
- Experience developing Tableau reports is a plus
- Excellent communication skills - both oral and written
- Ability to work on multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well in a team environment as well as independently
- Exhibits professionalism at all times
