What are the responsibilities and job description for the Urgent Care Mental Health Technician position at Harbor?
Harbor is currently looking to add a Mental Health Technician who is responsible for providing direct care to Urgent Care/Crisis clients, and maintaining clinical records regarding each clients behavior.
Position is full-time, 4 days a week, 1st shift, 8:00AM-6:30PM. Position requires every other weekend work and some holidays. *Position may begin with hours of 8:00AM-4:30PM for training and/or onboarding*
Education/Experience/Other Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required. Associates or Bachelor’s in a Mental Health related field preferred.
- Experience working with and/or training in delivery of behavioral health services preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills required; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of people and be a team player.
- Ability to handle multiple-line phone system and busy waiting room simultaneously.
- Ability to adhere to strict client confidentiality standards and policies.
- Must be proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- CPR/First Aid and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.
Essential Job Competencies/Primary Duties:
1. Assists with monitoring and maintaining client’s behaviors
2. Recognize and respond appropriately to crisis situations.
3. Delivers excellent customer service in the manner prescribed by the company's customer service standards and takes appropriate action as necessary to clearly understand and resolve client needs, whenever possible.
4. Ensures that clients are announced to appropriate staff person; Provide any necessary follow-up and ensure the client is attended to in a timely manner.
5. Responsible for client filing in a timely and accurate manner via electronic records or paper client chart. This includes sending client filing to other locations, sorts loose filing in an A-Z folder, files records in clinical charts, and scanning and attaching electronic records on a daily basis.
6. Obtains and enters into computer system the admission information during initial and on-going client contact according to Harbor policy.
7. Monitor and document clients’ activities and provides specific information and observations of the clients needs, and behaviors, to clinical staff when necessary.
8. Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning.
9. Maintains accurate and complete appropriate clinical records and in a timely manner.
10. Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures including thorough hand washing, use of disposable gloves where indicated, and proper disposal of soiled materials.
