Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, PA, a leader among the nation’s independent associate degree colleges, has an immediate opening for an Assistant Program Director which has a vital administrative role in the Nursing Program.  

Position Title:  
Assistant Program Director for Nursing (Administrative Position)

Reports to:
Program Director

 Qualifications/Skills: 
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • Current PA RN license
  • Previous experience in nursing practice, nursing education and educational administration

Responsibilities:
  1. Functions as director in his/her absence
  2. Serves as resource for new faculty
  3. Oversees SPE process and Nursing Curriculum Committee
  4. Performs other duties as assigned by Nursing Program Director
  5. Serves as a role model for professional behavior
  6. Serves as a Clinical/Lab instructor, as assigned
  7. Prepares instructional materials for assigned course(s) using approved Harcum College and Nursing Program templates
  8. Distributes materials to students and paces on Canvas in timely fashion
  9. Facilitates student learning using a variety of effective teaching/educational strategies
  10. Incorporates current knowledge, research, and other evidence into all instructional packages
  11. Evaluates student learning/achievement of course outcomes using a variety of methods
  12. Composes examination according to policy
  13. Demonstrates competence in the use of current and emerging educational and nursing clinical technology
  14. Identifies students in need of assistance in learning or remediation and makes appropriate referrals
  15. Advises assigned students on academic issues and assists students to meet student learning outcomes
 

Service:
  1. Participates in the Nursing Faculty Organization meetings
  2. Serves on Harcum College committees
  3. Participates in community and nursing actives
  4. Overall responsibility for the Nursing Program 
  5. Chair of Nursing Faculty Organization
  6. Point of contract with ACEN and PA State Board of Nursing
  7. Administration of nursing program budget
  8. Faculty recruitment
  9. Faculty and staff evaluations
  10. Course Schedules
  11. Collaborate with other faculty in developing course materials
  12. Utilize effective communication skills to impart knowledge and provide support through counseling
  13. Effectively Plan, organize and execute the instruction
  14. Assess student needs and progress in both theory and/or clinical practice
  15. Utilize various teaching methodologies to facilitate the teaching/learning process among the traditional and adult learners
  16. Function as a role model for students
  17. Provide academic advisement and counseling for students
  18. Evaluate courses regarding content and teaching methodologies


Scholarship:
  1. Maintain current knowledge of subject area
  2. Demonstrate continued professional development
  3. Assume responsibility for own personal and continuing education and developmental needs


Service:
  1. Provide leadership to the faculty in planning and implementing the curriculum
  2. Actively participate in College-wide committees
  3. Serve as Director of the Nursing Faculty Organization
  4. Plan course schedules and faculty teaching assignments
  5. Pursues contracts with cooperating agencies
  6. Plan and administer the Nursing Program Budget
  7. Direct the implementation of admissions and nursing program policies
  8. Interview and make recommendations for new faculty and staff positions
  9. Serve as a resource for faculty, students and community when indicated 
  10. Foster effective public relations
  11. Actively participate in professional associations
  12. Participate in recruiting activities for the College and the nursing program
