Clinic Clerk Position Overview:
The Clinic Clerk supports patient care services provided by the Refugee Clinic. The Clerk is responsible for performing administrative tasks in accordance with all Harris County Public Health (HCPH) and Refugee Health Screening Program protocols. This position is responsible for client reception, scheduling, and maintaining medical records for the Refugee Health Screening Program.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receives clients upon arrival, completes registration, verifies eligibility and documents insurance coverage.
- Schedules and confirms appointments in the electronic medical record system.
- Answers and manages incoming phone calls by routing clients appropriately and providing service information.
- Prepares medical records for document imaging and scanning in accordance with HCPH Health Information medical record protocols.
- Receives and monitors interpreter and taxi providers at the clinic.
- Provides translation for clinical staff when needed.
- Assist in performing data entry and electronic data processing by using the program Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Microsoft Excel, and any other related software.
- Conducts home visits when necessary to retrieve medical records, obtain consents and/or collect specimens.
- Other duties as assigned.

- High School diploma or GED equivalency
Experience:
- One (1) year experience performing administrative office duties in a health care setting
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
