What are the responsibilities and job description for the Core Maker - 1st shift position at Harrison Steel Castings Co.?
Harrison Steel has an opening on first shift in its core making area to create cores that will be inserted into the mold to help create dimensional tolerances required by our customers. The core making process involves several steps, including:
- Inspecting core boxes for wear and damage
- Operating the sand mixer to fill the core box with sand
- Inserting reinforcing rebar into the sand
- Compacting sand in the core box
- Removing the sand core from the core box
Qualifications and Skills
- Enjoys hands-on work
- Basic math & reading skills
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
- Works safely and observes all safety procedures
Work Environment:
The employee regularly work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Also exposure to outdoor weather conditions, non-weather related extreme cold, water and humidity, and the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The usual noise level is very loud. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
