Bliss 11 Step Down is a 18-bed unit that provides care to patients with a wide range of complex, highly acute medical issues. These issues include but are not limited to; respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver injury/failure, kidney injury/failure, sepsis, drug and alcohol withdrawal and a specialty in the care of the pulmonary hypertension population. Under the supervision of a Critical Care Pulmonologist, the unit is staffed 24 hours-a-day with a team of Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses.

Job Summary:
The Assistant Nurse Manager is recognized as the clinical expert in their service line and a leadership role model for Registered Nurses and all staff under their supervision. Directs the work in such a way to ensure the overall movement of patients through the department in a safe and efficient manner. This position will assign all patient care activities assuring that staff are qualified to care for assigned patients, support team members, and ensure quality and service excellence to our patients. They will also facilitate challenging situations. Appropriately assigns the workload. Responsible for monitoring & maintaining staff performance. Responsibilities:
Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Conducts hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff.
Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services for the assigned unit(s).
Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
Collaborates with the Clinical Nurse Leaders and Nurse Educator to develop programs designed to assist the staff nurse in the progression of novice to expert in the practice of nursing.
Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and services.
Evaluates factors related to safety, outcomes, effectiveness, cost and social impact when developing and implementing practice innovations.
Provides leadership and direction to nursing unit staff and has 24 hour accountability ensuring all quality, financial, and service benchmarks as well as compliance with environmental care standards are met.

Qualifications
Requirements
• Current Connecticut RN License.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN required).
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association and proof of Arrhythmia Certification required prior to date of hire.
Prior leadership experience and/or unit committee work highly preferred.
Specialty certification highly preferred.
Strong communications skills required - both written and verbal.
