Natchaug Hospital is Eastern Connecticut’s leading provider for children, adolescents and adults with mental illness and substance abuse addictions. We offers a variety of programs including inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, residential treatment for court-involved teenage girls, geriatric services, clinical day treatment schools and chemical dependency services. Job Summary
The Unit Clerk assists in non-clinical procedures and activities that are necessary to the operation of an organized nursing unit:
- Organizes and maintains patient records both paper and electronic.
- Provides support to clinical staff in accessing medical records and retrieving documents as needed.
- Performs clerical tasks required to support the functioning of the unit, including but not limited to faxing documents for clinical staff and in support of the administrative departments, supplies management, filing, completion and delivery of paperwork as required etc.
- Assist and support the hospital's contracted providers to ensure client access and service provision.
- Coordinates client transportation and consult appointments as needed for clients and families, and any related appointment needs of clients under direction of treatment staff.
- Provides telephone and unit desk coverage for unit, clinical, and medical staff.
- Provides reception desk coverage upon request.
- Performs other related duties as requested by Health Information Management Coordinator, Nursing Staff and Management.
Qualifications
- Experience with an electronic medical record, patient billing system, or similar software product preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- One year of experience in a health care setting is a plus.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current Connecticut Driver's License
- Must be computer proficient with excellent keyboard skills.
