JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Maintenance Technician Business Unit: Hartzell Air Movement
Location: Piqua, OH Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
Department: Maintenance
Basic Function: Our Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining all production equipment and facility maintenance. This position also installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in an industrial establishment by performing the following duties. This position will also assist our weld, fabrication, assembly and fiberglass departments as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
- Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Sets up and operates metalworking tools such as lathe, drill press, or grinder, to make or repair parts.
- Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts and assist in the daily weld operations as directed.
- Repairs and maintains physical structure of buildings.
- Visually inspects, tests, and repairs company vehicles.
- Diagnoses and repairs power tools.
- Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
- Assists & implements a preventative maintenance program.
- Does preshift daily inspection of all hoist and air compressors completing ISO and EHS documents to record inspections.
- Assists co-workers with repairs.
- Replaces defective light bulbs in the facility and machines.
- Cleans and paints equipment.
- Assists in snow removal on steps and sidewalks.
- Moves and relocates office furniture.
- Cleans loading dock drains and sumps.
- Supports the Hartzell Culture initiatives and displays and portrays the Hartzell Values.
- Supports the company’s lean initiatives and assists in Lean projects as required.
- Follows all safety practices and rules. Maintains clean and safe working environment in line with company policies.
- Supports other departments or completes other duties as necessary.
- Expected to perform repairs as needed on steam heating equipment.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years vocational training in the maintenance fields, or equivalent on-the-job experience preferred
- Experience with low and high voltage industrial electrical systems is a plus
- Experience in programming PLCs, troubleshooting, and analyzing production machines and system is a plus
- Ability to mechanically disassemble and assemble machines and components, repair fabrication, and read blue prints and schematics is a plus
- Excellent math skills.
- HVAC certification would be a plus.
- Welding experience with mig and tig weld procedures is desired.
- Previous experience with hand tools, grinder, drill press, drills, air compressor, air driven tools, welder, electrical test equipment, front end loader, tow motor, straight truck is desired
- Previous application of lean manufacturing and structured problem solving tools is a plus.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Frequently (40 - 70%) lifts material weighing 25 - 60 lbs. Occasionally (15 - 40%) lifts material weighing over 60 lbs. Lifting is generally from floor level to shoulder level.
- Must be capable of close, distant, and color vision and have good depth perception.
- Must reach, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Must be reliable and willing to work overtime when required.
Salary : $39,100 - $49,500
