This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA based campus. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager.

This is a full-time term appointments starting July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024, with an expectation of reappointment until June 30, 2025. All Predoctoral Fellow roles at HBS are structured as one-year term appointments, but faculty prefer candidates willing to commit for two years.

A cover letter is required to be considered for this opportunity. All candidates will be expected to submit a writing sample and transcript. Candidates will submit sample coding to be reviewed by an HBS statistician.

Position Description
Harvard Business School seeks a full-time Predoctoral Fellow for the academic year 2023-2024 to work with a faculty member in our Organizational Behavior unit. The Fellow will work with faculty to develop, design, and conduct research projects and contribute to scholarly output on a wide range of topics including diversity and inclusion, social disparities, and the intersection of race and culture in the workplace. This position is ideal for candidate with plans for doctoral studies in two years.
The Fellow will report directly to the faculty and administrative manager in the Research Staff Services office. Ideal candidates will be comfortable in an environment that requires a high level of independence, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to use discretionary judgment.
Primary Duties:
- Conduct research tasks including designing surveys and studying results, running studies, and analyzing field data, conversational data, sales data, among other sources.
- Manage IRB applications and approvals, datasets, and shared file systems including all study materials.
- Facilitate studies by creating and organizing all materials, scheduling lab time and participants, and troubleshooting problems.
- Assist with the preparation of manuscripts for submission to research journals including accurately applying APA guidelines and accommodating journal's particular submission specifications.
- Conduct literature reviews and qualitative coding. Independently manage all timelines and deliverables for multiple projects with competing priorities, while collaborating with team members.
- Develop and manage project timelines and action steps, ensuring deadlines and milestones are met.
- Balance project requests from multiple faculty members, using strong communication and prioritization skills. Must be able to structure assignments and keep faculty member informed as necessary, using own judgment.
- Independently manage all timelines and deliverables. Exercise independent decision making with regard to progression of research project and methodologies.
