Job Description
Are you passionate about providing excellent customer service? We are looking for enthusiastic, customer service oriented candidates to be the face of Haven Savings Bank to our branch customers.
As a Teller at Haven Savings Bank, you will play a vital role in our customer's banking experience.
You will champion our Service Excellence culture, assisting customers with product, service education and identifying opportunities for referrals to our Customer Service Representatives. You will perform a wide variety of transactions including check cashing, deposits, transfers and withdrawals while adhering to established operational policies and procedures. Equally important is the ability to resolve customer inquiries quickly and efficiently, delivering an extraordinary customer experience.
Home Base will be in the Livingston, NJ Branch, but must be available to cover at other branches.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Teller receives and pays out money, as well as accurately keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in a financial institution's various transactions. The Teller meets the needs of customers by providing quality service.
Essential Functions

1. Receive checking and savings deposits: verify cash and endorsements, receive proper identification for cash back and issue receipts of deposit.
2. Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete hold notices.
3. Process savings withdrawals. Cash checks: verify endorsement, receive proper identification and ensure validity.
4. Identify counterfeit currency.
5. Answer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
6. Cross-sell bank products and services.
7. Refer customers to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved at the Teller line.
8. Count and roll loose coins.
9. Accept loan payments: verify payment amount and issue receipts.
10. Buy and sell currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that Teller drawer cash limits are not exceeded.
11. Ensure Teller station is properly supplied.
12. Accept county property tax payments
13. Balance and update savings passbooks and close accounts when requested.
14. Follow procedures for removing accounts for dormancy.
15. Balance drawer daily, including periodic batching of cashed checks.
16. Redeem U.S. Savings Bonds.
17. Maintain appropriate currency logs.
18. Follow all bank policies, procedures and all BSA compliance requirements.

Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
Position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.

Position Type - Full-time position
Work Hours
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:45am – 4:00pm
- Thursday – 8:45am – 6:00pm (During COVID, we do not have evening hours
- Saturdays: 8:45am – 1:00pm
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Teller Banking experience preferred
2. Customer service banking experience
3. Previous cash handling experience
4. High school diploma or equivalent.
Authorized active Driver’s License required to drive to Haven Savings Bank branches when needed
