Overview
Maintains prescribed standards of cleanliness for assigned areas and following prescribed procedures and work schedules. Cares for hard surface floors, cleaning of windows and emptying of trash.
Position Summary
- Pre-treats carpet for spots; chooses proper chemical cleansers for specific floor treatment; fills and prepares extraction equipment; posts proper safety precaution signage; performs carpet extraction; places drying equipment in appropriate locations; cleans and stores extraction equipment; notifies management of signage location for removal; and performs routine maintenance of equipment.
- Prepares stripper solution; applies to floor surface; selects and installs appropriate scrubber pad to floor equipment; posts proper safety precaution signage; scrubs floor with equipment; extracts solution from floor; neutralizes floor with proper chemicals; insures cleanliness of floor; applies sealer or wax to appropriate level; places drying equipment in appropriate locations; cleans and stores equipment; removes safety precaution signage when appropriate; and performs routine maintenance of equipment.
- Posts proper safety precaution signage; scrubs floor with equipment; ensures floor is clean and clear of debris; selects and installs appropriate buffing pad to floor equipment; prepares buffing solution; applies to floor surface; operates floor machine to remove floor blemishes and restores floor to appropriate state; cleans and stores equipment; removes safety precaution signage when appropriate; and performs routine maintenance of equipment.
- Pre-treats upholstery for spots; chooses proper chemical cleansers for specific upholstery treatment; fills and prepares extraction equipment; performs extraction; places drying equipment in appropriate locations; cleans and stores extraction equipment; and performs routine maintenance of equipment.
- Inventories and completes requisition for supplies; forwards requisition to management; and restocks inventory.
- Selects proper chemical for the appropriate cleaning task; dilutes chemicals according to manufactures specification; wears proper personal protective equipment needed for the specific chemical; checks for proper chemical dispensing to ensure a safe environment; ensure appropriate cleaning and disinfecting techniques are followed to reduce the risk of infection and provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Infection Control: Initial and Ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Trainings could include but are not limited to, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and bio hazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment.

Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Kansas drivers license with an acceptable driving record and must be insurable through the medical center's insurance carrier if assigned duties are required.
- Additional certification may be required for certain settings or populations. Specific information and the timeframe in which such certification must be attained will be provided by the department director/manager/supervisor at time of hire/transfer into department.
Preferred:
- High school graduate or equivalence
- Prior floor maintenance experience
