Job Summary and Qualifications

 Austin FC joined Major League Soccer in January 2019 as the league’s 27th member club and officially began play in MLS in 2021 in a new, state-of-the-art 20,500-seat soccer stadium and public park scheduled to open during Austin FC’s inaugural season. The Austin FC is actively seeking a highly qualified, multi-skilled Sports Dietician to work as part of the high performance department and who will coordinate and administer a comprehensive dietary and nutritional program for an MLS franchise. This position will also perform professional and administrative services essential for the successful implementation and development of the program. This unique role to help build a major league property and establish the core identity of a major league brand from the earliest stages is a once-in-a-lifetime and career-defining opportunity. The Sports Dietician will: 

• Manage food inventory and menu selection with SDPC food provider 
• Menu selection for team travel (snacks and team meals) 
• Preparing hydration and nutrition needs for practice and games 
• Communicating with high performance staff and athletes 
• Develop and document nutritional and supplementation plans for individual athletes 
• Liaise with 3rd party nutritional/medical consultants
• Coordinate nutrition education initiatives (such as a cooking class for the athletes)
•  Build relationships with support staff, coaching staff, and athletes 
•  Assist with athlete assessment (such as body composition) and testing 

What qualifications you will need:

• Demonstrated experience working with athletes, preferably in soccer with a passion for sports. 
• Experience working for a Major League Soccer organization a plus 
• Strong understanding of the challenges athletes face around food, nutrition, and meal choices for professional sports
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using a variety of media with diverse audiences
• High ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion
• EDUCATION: (Required): Bachelor of Science degree program in exercise science, sports nutrition, or similar degree. 
• EXPERIENCE: (Preferred): Minimum 5 years of professional or college experience, preferably with experience in soccer
