As a Point of Care/Quality Coordinator you will supervise and administer the facility Point-of-Care testing and department Quality Assurance programs under the direction of the department administrative and medical directors to meet patient care and regulatory agency requirements. You will also work with facility and department leaders to implement new programs monitor performance, collect and evaluate performance data, develop corrective action plans, and assist in the training and education of personnel regarding Point-of-Care and Quality activities. You will perform technical duties within the department as required.


You Will: 

  • Work heavily with information system computer functions relative to job duties
  • Ensure work is organized and performed according to section procedure manual so that other personnel can follow workflow
  • Assure that proficiency testing samples are analyzed according to instructions and are completed within the allowable time frame
  • Review proficiency testing and/or quality assurance results and work with departments to develop corrective action plans, where indicated
  • Consistently complete all required records/documentation pertaining to quality assurance and/or point-of-care testing records
  • Demonstrate the ability to use good judgment and independent thinking in the correlation and interpretation of patient results
  • Monitor accreditation agency licensing status and assist department director in preparing licensing and renewal paperwork (CAP, CLIA, AHCA, business license, etc.)
  • Work with regulatory agencies and HCA legal resources to ensure that licensing documentation is completed as required
  • Prepare annual program for Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Regulatory compliance under the guidance of the Department director
  • Prepare annual assessment of Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Regulatory performance for assigned division
  • Assist Division Administrative and Medical Directors in reviewing performance data and identifying corrective actions
  • Assure that equipment is operated correctly and periodic maintenance is performed according to schedule
  • Monitor the utilizes of point-of-care reagents and supplies appropriately
  • Provide ongoing education for the quality assurance and/or point-of-care testing programs in cooperation with other departments where indicated
  • Maintain education and development appropriate for position
  • Act as a resource regarding point-of-care testing, quality control, quality assurance and regulatory affairs
  • Prepare, organize and present performance information for appropriate meetings in a timely manner
  • Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of point-of-care testing equipment in support of facility service needs




Qualifications

You Should Have:
  • A 4 Year/Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • A State of Florida Technologist License 
  • A State of Florida Supervisor's License is preferred
  • 3-5 Years of Experience in a clinical laboratory setting with quality assurance and/or point-of-care testing
