Description
HCA Solutions is currently seeking qualified individuals to work as Pharmacy Technicians within the Meds by Mail area of the Department of Veterans Affairs in Dublin, GA. This is a contracted full-time position.
Description of Duties
- Ordering, stocking, storing, and dispensing of prescription and non-prescription medications while demonstrating knowledge of the budgetary guidelines and Formulary constraints.
- Maintain pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion consistent with departmental safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Maintaining stock of up-to-date medications (checking for outdates per policy) in the main pharmacy, satellite camp, both crash carts, emergency bags and Automated Dispensing Systems.
- Maintaining stock of forms as needed and updating Pill Line/Restricted Medication Administration records for inmates as well as filing Medication Administration Record’s into the Medical Record.
- Will prepare unit dose or pre-packaged medications.
- Complete and maintain competency as indicated by ability to complete the Pharmacy Competency Module while maintaining knowledge of Formulary and any changes to this document.
- Maintain the narcotics count along with the needle and syringe inventories.
- Maintain and re-stock adequate supplies for the Pyxis machine, and perform audits of Pyxis machine.
- Possess a working knowledge and maintain technical computer skills pertaining to pharmacy issues.
- Must participate in Improving Organizational Performance Data and Quality Assurance Activities as directed by the BOP Pharmacist or HSA.
- Perform minor clerical duties; such as use of electronic medical record, computer documentation and scheduling, scanning documents, filing, typing, call-outs, institutional memorandums, answering phones, scheduling patients and maintaining stock records.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Must have completed a formal Pharmacy Training Program with at least six months of course credit and/or internship satisfactorily completed
- Must have at least 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience
- Have a current CPR certification
- Proof of current TB Test within the last year
- Proof of all current vaccinations including COVID
