Primary responsibility is coordination of the Infection Control Program and full house surveillance and reporting of hospital infections. Monitors prevalence of drug resistant organisms for both inpatient and outpatients. Responsible for policy development. Conducts educational sessions pertaining to infection control topics. The position requires intimate knowledge of both department and hospital policies. Interpretative skills, frequent interactive and collaborative relationships are inherent in the position. This role will act as the clinical liaison for infection control events or activities between physicians, unit directors, clinical coordinators, clinical staff, ancillary staff, and administrative staff. Education & Experience
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree required
- 2 years of experience in hospital Infection Prevention hospital required
- 2 years of experience in critical care and hospital nursing required
Licenses, Certifications, & Training
- Registered Nurse - Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation required
- Possess and maintain a current Registered Nurse license in the State of Virginia or Compact Multistate license
- Specialty certification and/or Masters of Science in Nursing preferred
- Professional Organization Membership preferred
