This includes, but not limited to building administrators, intervention team chairs, interventionists, etc. The Intervention Coordinator is responsible for building the capacity of Intervention Team members on strategies and techniques related to the Virginia Tiered Systems of Supports Tier II and Tier III Interventions. The Intervention Coordinator will collaborate with all schools to ensure the proper structure exists for Intervention Teams and that they implement a recurring meeting to review various requests for assistance. The Intervention Coordinator will work to explicitly address the needs of, and coordinate support for, all schools as it relates to the district's efforts toward reducing disciplinary infractions, improving academic achievement, and attendance.
- Monitors and supports the work of intervention teams division wide to design, implement, coordinate, and support Tier II and Tier III academic and behavioral interventions.
Meets regularly with Intervention Chairs and Teams so they are meeting the outlined Tiered Fidelity Inventory standards for Tier II and Tier III Supports.
Maintains appropriate data and provides weekly updates and monthly reports to the VTSS Specialist regarding the number of students serviced, placement of students, needs of students, needs of staff, parental involvement, etc. to ensure decision-making processes are data informed, strategic, and targeted
Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior and academic success by providing professional development that targets research, strategies, and modeling of instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of positive behavioral and academic interventions in their classrooms for specific students
Focus on daily program coordination, creation, and implementation of training events, setting program expectations, goals, and activities while serving as a resource to provide various research-based strategies and interventions to improve student academic achievement and behaviors
Development of management tools for intervention teams to conduct proper implementation and progress monitoring of Tier II and Tier III interventions
Provides ongoing communication and support to Intervention Team Chairs
Plans, organizes, and conducts professional learning for school-based staff
Keeps current with research related to effective behavioral and academic interventions and strategies that support and meet the needs of the whole child
Ensure that intervention programs are culturally responsive and implemented equitably and with fidelity
Collaborates with with various departments within the division, as well as other stakeholders to build community and partnerships
Develop partnerships to further the scope and access to resources for intervention teams
Provides emergency consultations in relation to Tier II and Tier III interventions and strategies
Attends work daily and be engaged in job responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned
