Overview of Role:

As a full-time Housing and Employment Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals in securing stable housing and gainful employment. You will work closely with clients to assess their needs, develop individualized plans and provide support throughout the housing and employment search process.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ housing and employment needs.
  • Develop personalized housing and employment plans in collaboration with clients.
  • Assist clients in searching for suitable housing options, including affordable rentals, transitional housing and permanent housing.
  • Provide guidance and support to clients in navigating the housing application process, including completing paperwork and attending appointments.
  • Conduct housing searches, schedule property viewings and negotiate lease agreements on behalf of clients.
  • Assist clients in developing job readiness skills, including resume writing, interview preparation and job search strategies.
  • Connect clients with employment resources, job training programs and educational opportunities.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to access housing subsidies, financial assistance and supportive services.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, progress notes and case documentation.
  • Collaborate with community partners, landlords, employers and other stakeholders to support clients’ housing and employment goals.

Additional Information:

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
  • Travel within the community, including but not limited to Newton, Lexington and Woburn is required to meet with clients, attend meetings and collaborate with partner agencies.
  • This position may require evening and/or weekend availability to accommodate client schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, psychology or a related field (preferred/not required).
  • Haitian Creole and/or Spanish language proficiency (preferred/not required).
  • Previous experience working in housing assistance, homelessness prevention or workforce development.
  • Strong knowledge of housing resources, landlord-tenant laws and housing subsidy programs.
  • Familiarity with employment services, vocational training programs and job placement strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.

Salary Range:

  • $40,000 to $55,000 annually based on experience

  • 56 hours of sick time (prorated based on work schedule)
