What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant Urogynecology- Viera Hospital MOB position at Health First?
- This position is eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
POSITION SUMMARY:
In alignment with Health First commitments of Quality / No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship, the HFMG Patient Care Specialist provides clinical care of patients under the direction of the providers at Health First Medical Group (HFMG) offices.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Perform clinical intake by taking medical histories and vital signs, recording weight/height and verification of patient's current prescriptions.
- Prepare patients for examination and explain treatment procedures.
- Prepare and perform point of care testing and/or specimen collection as directed by provider.
- Prepare and administer medications, then document validation of medication safety rights. Validate with ordering provider, any medication orders that are controlled high risk, or when there are questions on the medications ordered prior to administering.
- Track and communicate to patients, labs and diagnostic studies results, as directed by the provider.
- Answer internal and external customer phone calls, and direct messages to the appropriate individuals.
- Apply proper infection prevention techniques to all self-care and patient procedures.
- Clean exam rooms and equipment and ensure that supply inventories are maintained at par levels.
- Applies customer service techniques of "managing up", explaining delays and use of the Health First Connections scripting in internal and external interactions.
- Provide customer follow up and education to ensure customer's participation in their care showing respect for their needs. Adjust communications to meet the customer's needs, expectations, age, culture, and individual differences.
- May provide coverage for front desk operations including patient registration; payment collections; patient checkout and future appointment scheduling.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Licensure/Certification:Medical Assistant Certificationorvalid LPN license in the State of Florida
- In lieu of LPN, one of the following Medical Assistant Certification is a minimum requirement within 90 days of hire date:
o Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through National Healthcareer Association (NHA)www.nhanow.com
o Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)www.aama-ntl.org
o Medical Assistant (RMA) certification through American Medical Technologists (AMT)https://www.americanmedtech.org/
