The Optical Lab Assistant/Technician is responsible for the completion of all eyeglass orders placed with the HealthDrive Optical Lab and for organizational tasks within the lab.
Responsibilities
- Cut eyeglass lenses and assemble eyeglasses for final inspection by lab supervisor.
- Confirming prescriptions of eyeglass lenses
- Inspecting and aligning completed eyeglasses
- Organizational tasks to ensure a well-stocked and efficient lab. Tasks include:
- Stocking the on-site eyeglass frame inventory and communicating purchase needs with Lab Supervisor
- Ensuring special order lenses are paired with the correct patients
- Coordinating dispense paperwork for third party eyeglass orders
- Prioritizing eyeglass orders when urgency is required
- Filing all necessary invoices for end-of-month statements
- Calling outside vendors about specific order needs
- Complete all orders within HealthDrive internal computer system.
- Send all necessary paper work to opticians or coordinators
- Update managers/supervisors with feedback from providers to improve services or provide recognition of staff members
Other duties and tasks may be assigned as appropriate or necessary
Qualifications
The Optical Lab Assistant must be able to work closely with the Lab Supervisor to ensure the timely completion of patient eyeglasses and have the ability to follow up consistently and diligently. Be highly organized and professional. Have an ability to pay close attention to detail. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environmentand be self-motivated.
