HealyKohler Design, Inc. (HealyKohler) is a Museum Planning and Exhibit Design company located in an emerging neighborhood of Washington DC, with easy access to the Maryland suburbs. We are seeking an experienced, full-time marketing lead who will work with our principals to elevate our brand and broaden our reach. Our clients include public and private museums, universities, military institutions, cultural centers, and sports institutions.
As a department of one, the primary responsibility of this position is to proactively find and develop new business opportunities, working closely with a dynamic team and an engaged leader. You’ll lead the proposal process for both invited and open-bid RFPs; represent HealyKohler in the market through networking, conferences, and research-based client targeting; develop and execute on a vibrant marketing plan; and be responsible for maintaining an active corporate presence on social media.
This role requires strong writing skills, confident interpersonal communication, and the ability to think strategically, as well as execute tactically.
Responsibilities
Lead the response to RFPs
- Represent HealyKohler at pre-bid meetings
- Advise on go/no go decisions
- Contribute to strategy development for winning bids
- Project manage the proposal process
- Prepare qualification statements, proposal packages, and presentations, including pricing
Create and manage marketing collateral
- Draft, edit, organize, and proofread collateral, including proposal content, project sheets, resumes, brochures, interview content, and presentations
- Ensure content is comprehensive, competitive, and client specific
Maintain industry and competitor awareness
- Identify client needs and suggest appropriate products/services
- Identify and track business opportunities
- Research trends
Represent HealyKohler in the market
- Deliver engaging presentations for both clients and prospects, often with colleagues
- Represent HealyKohler at conferences and marketing venues
- Organize conference booths including displays and marketing materials
Client relationships
- Cultivate new relationships, including through direct approaches to prospects, networking, and bid opportunities
- Maintain and nurture long-term trusting relationships with clients
Qualifications
Required:
- A degree in marketing, communications, English, graphics, or a related field
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- 5 years’ experience in exhibit design, architecture, or related communities, familiarity with the museum/exhibit industry is preferred
- High level of proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
- Confidence and experience with social media and email marketing, as well as initiating client and prospect connections
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including managing multiple overlapping deadlines
- Strong skills in collaboration and managing up, as well as the ability to manage project assignments from start to finish with minimal oversight
- Must be competitive, outgoing, tenacious, and excited by a challenge
This role is 100% in-person, including both local and long-distance travel (10%) for pursuits and client connection.
