Description
Reporting to the Director of Workforce Innovations and Community Partnerships the Employment Specialist is a critical position within HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS) American Dream Program. The Employment Specialist will provide quality, data-driven, individualized (as well as group workshops), instilling a host of employment support services to all HSVS youth (in-care or formerly in-care), ensuring they are educated, empowered, and exposed to compete for employment/internships opportunities in today’s job market. The Employment Specialist will collaborate with the entire Youth Development team and the case planning team, to ensure youth are connected to employment resources and opportunities that will raise their level of educational achievement, secure employment, and prepare them for adulthood and permanent housing.
The Employment Specialist will be a trained professional who will work with youth in foster care or formerly in foster care to help them become career-ready, financially stable, and professionally confident individuals.
Responsibilities:
- The Employment Specialist will meet young people “where they are” and build a trusting relationship with them, using an authentic, accountability driven, trauma-informed, strength-based approach.
- The employment Specialist’s position is full-time, working collaboratively in a fun, team-oriented, mission-focused, and goal-driven environment, to expose and transition the mindset of youth (presently or formally in care) into career-ready, financially stable, professionally confident individuals. Through career readiness workshops, group counseling, 1:1 sessions, community partnerships, and meticulous data tracking, the Employment Specialist plays a vital role in the transitional process of the youth we service.
- Partake in trainings related to Child Welfare, the Fair Futures Goals and Steps, navigating and entering data in the Fair Futures/Care4 Platform, and all employment-related professional development trainings and workshops offered and assigned by their Supervisor.
- The Employment Specialist will daily contribute to creating a trauma-informed environment, utilizing a non-judgmental, accountability-driven, strengths-based, collaborative approach to working both with the youth, and colleagues alike.
- Hybrid work schedules will be available and discussed after successful completion of the probationary period.
We respectfully ask for a minimum 1-2-year commitment to this role, given the importance of young people having consistent, caring adults in their lives, and the significant investment our team will make into supporting and developing the Workforce Development Coordinator.
