ABOUT THE POSITION
As a qualified professional, the financial accountant will ensure that all financial activities and the relevant regulatory aspects are executed for the business.
Key Deliverables
Comply with annual and provisional tax returns.
- Provide guidance on the accounting transactions for all below the line areas.
- Plan and interact with external and internal auditors.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register for tax and book.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Astec Industries group standards, local requirements, and relevant SA GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP.
- Compiling the Annual Budget.
- Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data.
- Updates job knowledge by keeping current with financial regulations and accepted practices, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations.
- Determining accounting errors or discrepancies and suggesting the required corrective action.
- Assisting the relevant stakeholders with financial analysis and basic finance for non-financial managers training.
- Developing Standard Operating Procedures to guide all accounting practices at the Company.
- Monitoring and reviewing financial performance through daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
- Monitoring variances in expenses against monthly and annual budgets.
- Providing feedback to relevant stakeholders on all account anomalies.
- Evaluating, investigating, and reporting on variances to budget.
- Enhancing and streamlining of the financial reporting and ERP system reporting.
- Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
- BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, and relevant field.
- Proven track record as a financial accountant with 5 years’ experience.
- Solid knowledge of accounting standards and regulations.
- Attention to detail, deadline driven, confidentiality, analytical mind.
- Well-developed business acumen.
- Experience in the use of accounting software such as Epicor and Oracle is ideal.
- Intermediate proficiency on Microsoft office.
