The Design Department Manager manages an DAO, Design organisation. The unit provides TCCA approved design and repair for rotorcraft and aeroplanes for customers worldwide. As Head of Design Organisation the Design Department Manager has the ultimate responsibility to the TCCA for all design activities undertaken by the organisation. For DAO issues the Head of Design Organisation reports directly to the General Manager/Chief Executive
Key Responsibilities
- All design organisation activities and procedures
- Design organisation personnel
- Responsible for design office personnel competence and continuous training
- The evaluation of design commitments versus available design resources
- Sufficient monitoring of DOA functions by accepting the annual audit plan
- Co-sign with Chief executive the statement in DOE Ch. 00-00-05
- Design meetings
- Short term resource planning
- Design organisation document systems and structure, both hard-copies and electronic
- Approve partners and sub-contractors
- Sign Declaration of Compliance for Product Changes and Repairs Classified as Major
- Project management
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
DOE requirements:
- Bachelor (or similar) or higher educational degree
- 2 years practice as Personnel making decision affecting airworthiness (in-house or in similar business, minimum 6 months in-house)
- If recruited outside the Design Organisation, Company organisation and documentation system training
- Human Factors Training
- Detailed knowledge of Certification Specifications and other relevant requirements
- Approved by TCCA
