What are the responsibilities and job description for the MPH Practicum position at Heluna Health?
This MPH practicum experience is intended to provide training for a student enrolled in a Master of Public Health program at UC Irvine. The practicum supports a project that analyzes county-level data to evaluate whether access to social safety net services is associated with COVID and influenza hospitalization rates. The student's role on this project will be to build an annotated bibliography, including a summary of relevant literature. This work will include conducting a literature search, screening and reviewing the literature identified, and managing citations. The literature review will help inform the analysis that is conducted and the framing of this work in the context of what exists in the literature. There may be opportunities to coauthor a manuscript for publication, although the timing of the manuscript submission will likely extend beyond the internship period.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform literature review using PubMed and other academic search engines
- Screen and review citations for relevance
- Manage citations using EndNote or similar related citation management software
- Draft summaries of relevant publications
- Assist with other research and/or data needs
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Support development of manuscript sections, as needed

MPH student with intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, advanced organizational skills, and strong written and oral communication skills.
