YOUR ROLE
- Provide general supervision and lab leadership for daily product testing of materials to determine their conformance to established requirements and ensure conformity to ISO and IATF standards as it pertains to the lab function. Perform workflow analysis and recommend improvements. Frequently provide associated reports and metrics to management. The incumbent must be a self-motivated, proven problem solver that can lead and work readily with multi-disciplinary teams to complete projects related to the achievement of established quality improvement objectives.
- Manage the productivity of Quality Specialists performing quality testing on incoming raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods according to inspection plans and specifications.
- Identify, lead, and facilitate projects aimed at improving productivity and reduce total supply chain costs. (Example: assess test workload, labor requirements, identify areas of waste, implement efforts to eliminate waste, train lab personnel to improve performance, SAP, document control, records, and retains).
- Manage personnel including scheduling work hours, timecards, disciplinary needs, vacation or other time off, and training across all shifts.
- Communicate of coordinate activities with other functions to provide feedback on schedule impact, status of samples, arrange for high priority items, and any other activities where lab is coordinated with other functions.
- Maintain clean, organized working environment including lab benches, retain samples, ovens, lab supplies and equipment.
- Participate in 5S program, basic problem solving (PDCA).
- Ensure compliance with all Safety, Health, and Environmental rules, procedures and regulations as it pertains to lab function.
- Support for complaint investigations, continuous improvement activities, and non-standard testing protocols.
- Maintain required records and retain samples; ensure disposition of old retain samples, ensuring proper disposal of waste streams from the lab.
- Complete and maintain the required quality records, metrics and/or documents as directed by the department standard operating procedures.
- Lead projects for improvement within the lab and between key functional groups for timely, correct sampling and reporting results.
- Assist in maintaining quality module systems within SAP for all materials
- Participate in Decision Board to assist in SAP transactions
- Member of internal audit team
- Drive continuous improvement
YOUR SKILLS
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or equivalent, a minimum of 5 years technical/lab experience, and must have 5 years manufacturing/leadership experience
- Experience in Quality Control
- Background in materials testing - viscosity testing, and general lab testing
- Knowledgeable in the use of laboratory equipment, instruments, and calibration techniques
- Understanding of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, 5011 testing, and PPAP requirements with practical application in the aforementioned industry
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and to manage cross functional teams
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, Six Sigma or statistical experience preferred
- Excellent team working, project management, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
- Able to lead and work well in a team environment
- Computer proficiency – MS Office, SAP (Quality Module)
- Willingness to have flexible work hours in order to frequently interface with key contacts in other geographical regions worldwide and with direct reports in a 24/7 operation
- Frequently sit, view a computer screen, and type on a keyboard for extended periods of time • Extensive standing and walking in laboratory
- Occasionally may be required to reach, squat, bend and lift up to 50 lbs
- Available during off hours in case of emergencies at the plant
- Ability to work in a chemical lab and fast paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to identify/recognize inspection errors and initiate resolution. Understand Good Documentation Practices (GDPs)
- Ability to manage time effectively and multi-task

The salary for this role is $85,600 - $100,000. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
