What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduler Home Care/Hospice - Jackson - Full Time position at Henry Ford Health?
The Home Care Scheduler provides advanced knowledge of administrative and secretarial functions as related to the support of patient and staff scheduling and in support of the operations of the department and in conjunction with management and other staff.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize a variety of computer software programs and/or systems.
- Utilize McKesson software to schedule patients to clinical staff schedules on a daily basis using proper decision-making rules and critical thinking skills.
- Manage day-to-day staff schedules and prepares monthly staff schedules at least 4 weeks in advance.
- Manage weekend staff and patient schedules and communicate these to the on-call staff and communications center staff appropriately.
- Maintain electronic files of past and present schedule support data and rules.
- Provide support to other Business Support staff as backup to Intake or office as needed.
- Handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously while maintaining focus and effectiveness, maintaining a high productivity level to maximize the productivity of the department.
- Work independently without supervision and uses sound business judgment in resolving problems and arriving at solutions.
- Prioritize and delegate as appropriate in order to handle high volume workload.
- Function at a high professional level in a politically sensitive and demanding environment.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of post-high school training, such as in business school, community college, or equivalent.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- None
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent formal education.
- 3-5 years of related experience is preferred, including 1 year of business support experience in the healthcare environment.
- Understanding of department services and terminology.
- Experience using e-mail, electronic calendar, word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
- Familiar with Home Care operations
