Salary: Expected to be $57,515 - $66,143, and commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical insurance, 401K plan and a liberal vacation policy.

Responsibilities
Policy/Advocacy Work
- In collaboration with the Director, Policy and the Research and Policy Analyst, participate in projects related to the policy and advocacy priorities in the Her Justice Policy Platform, including those related to immigration, child support, divorce, and intimate partner violence.
- Coordinate certain research projects as needed, including those that involve volunteers such as court watching, surveys, qualitative interviews, and other original research projects.
- Assist with research for legislative campaigns in which Her Justice is involved as lead or in coalition with other organizations.
- To support advocacy efforts, maintain tracking document for legislation of interest to Her Justice.
- Assist with coalition-building for legislative campaigns in which Her Justice is involved.
- Assist with internal communications to Her Justice Staff about policy and advocacy work.
- Participate in Her Justice Policy Team meetings and provide support by taking meeting minutes.
- Maintain records of law firm/corporate policy pro bono projects and collaborate with Legal Department, including Head of Legal Programs and Policy and the Pro Bono Management Team, on law firm/corporate engagement.
- Maintain master list of policy projects and bank of policy-related documents.
- Attend committee, coalition, and task force meetings relating to policy issues and reform efforts as a Her Justice representative, as needed.
- Coordinate outreach to state, local, and federal elected officials and support Her Justice government relations work as it relates to issues advocacy and government fundraising efforts and lobbying generally.
- Lobbying:
- Maintain knowledge of New York City and New York State lobbying regulations.
- Prepare lobbying filings for New York City and New York State.
- Maintain records related to meetings with New York City, New York State, and federal congressional officials/staff.
- Support federal lobbying efforts as needed.
- leading monthly meetings;
- coordinating or preparing materials for meetings with elected officials; and
- prepping staff accordingly.
- Assist with drafting testimony for public hearings, when needed.
- Work in collaboration with Development and Communications Department to share information about policy work and collaborate on cross-departmental projects.
- Assist with developing communications materials to further policy priorities (e.g., fact sheets and one-pagers).
- Knowledge of NYS/NYC Government is a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Zoom.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and advocacy for the population served by Her Justice.
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience.
