Description
Purpose of Position:
The purpose of this position is to gather and analyze financial information on members and non-members for the purpose of determining qualifying status for all mortgage loan programs, including in-house and secondary-market mortgage products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop mortgage loan business through member seminars and calls to realtors, contractors, and other institutions
- Interview loan applicants and assist members and non-members with the loan application process
- Provide all applicable disclosures for both fixed-rate and variable-rate loans
- Calculate closing costs and provide a Loan estimate of closing costs to mortgage applicants
- Process loan to include verification of employment, deposit accounts, and all liabilities in order to prepare application of verified information
- Obtain and evaluate credit bureau reports to determine credit-worthiness based on industry and policy standards
- Order appraisals from appraisers or secondary market lenders and evaluate real estate appraisal to ensure proper guidelines are followed and final value is properly determined
- Request flood certification to determine if property is or is not located in a flood zone
- Order title work from attorney or title company
- Identify critical missing documents, match them up with loan files
- Accumulate and organize incoming conditions for underwriter/mortgage originator to review
- Obtain copies of current policies for homeowner’s insurance and flood insurance (if applicable) and make sure that mortgage clause is in favor of the Credit Union or appropriate mortgage company
- Establish repayment and interest schedule based upon loan guidelines and rates
- Ensure each mortgage loan is processed accurately
- Prepare closing packages and coordinate closings with members, realtors and closing agents
- Coordinate delivery of loan packages to investors on secondary-market programs
- Maintain accurate records of insurance and taxes on all mortgage loans
- Cross-sell and refer other Credit Union services and products as members’ needs suggest
- Act as a liaison between loan officer and underwriter
- Responsible for servicing of all FICS loans and month end reporting of FICS loans
- Process turn down applications
- Perform other duties as requested by management
Requirements
Qualifications of Position:
- Bilingual
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Two years of residential mortgage lending or mortgage processing experience preferred but not required
- Good organizational skills; multi-task oriented
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Personable; works well with others; and performs favorably under time constraints and demands
