Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Scope:
- Manage all functions within the Nursing Department including resident cares, nursing staff and training.
- Manage day-to-day functions of the nursing department in accordance with current federal and state regulations to ensure quality of care is provided at all times.
- Has frequent contact with Care Center department managers, residents, family members, nursing staff, and various members of the medical community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interview, train, orientate, evaluate, recognize, and discipline staff as needed. Provide day to day work direction and problem solving as issues or conflicts arise. Continually communicate expectations with staff. Ensure staff complies with online education training. Follow and enforce organizational Human Resource policies. Develop and maintain staffing and scheduling systems reflecting quality, cost, and appropriateness, based on workload, skills, availability of support services, infection control issues and safety considerations. Provide regular staff meetings and ongoing employee educational and development opportunities which meet regulatory requirements and increase knowledge. Create and maintain a work environment for employees that is conducive to high productivity and morale. Establish and maintain effective communication systems with employees.
- Responsible for coordinating the effort of a variety of internal and external resident care services and discipline to meet the needs of the resident. Participate in the resident admission process. Will participate in quality assurance meetings. Ensure effective utilization of all resources. Initiate studies to evaluate effectiveness of nursing services in relation to their objectives and costs. Responsible for identifying trends and setting standards through benchmarking targets. Assist with benchmarking, key performance indicators to achieve highest quality and lowest cost. Participate in decision making and budgeting for the nursing department.
- Coordinate various surveys initiated by the Department of Health (annual survey, case mix audit, quality of life audit and any OHFC survey). Responsible for initiating investigations regarding Vulnerable Adult issues and appropriate reporting of any such events.
- Coordinate and establish and/or delegates policy development for resident care plans, standards of practice, and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for learning, understanding, and implementing legal and regulatory mandates as it affects residents, their care and staff. Need to have excellent knowledge of and ensure licensed staff follows all Medicare and Medicaid guidelines. Foresee, establish, and/or communicate changes to policies and procedures to meet internal or external demands.
- Conduct, attend, or facilitate work related meetings as needed. Participate in off-site work related to marketing and presentations to community members. Participate in and assist with resident evacuation procedures in case of fire, disaster or other occurrences requiring the resident be moved or evacuated.

Education and Experience Required:
- Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota.
- BSN is preferred along with three (3) years of management, geriatric, and rehabilitation nursing experience.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of MDS processes and excellent clinical skills.
- Must possess strong management, organizational, communication and analytical skills.
- Must have an ability to lead and work effectively with residents and families, coworkers, and staff who collectively possess a variety of personalities and backgrounds.
- Must have a good understanding of federal and state regulations and guidelines affecting nursing home care.
- Must have strong computer skills.
- Must be knowledgeable of Nursing and Medical practices and procedures.
- Must complete and pass a state required background study.
- Able to physically perform the duties required by the position.
- Required to have the ability to read, write and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, residents and visitors.
