Position Overview:
The Senior Payroll Specialist’s mission is to execute and manage payroll processes. The qualified individual will Process time records, calculate payrolls, maintain payroll control records, and ensure payroll taxes are paid according to state and federal law.
Responsibilities:
- Review personnel records to determine rates of pay, newly hired workers, changes in wage rates, and occupations of employees are within company guidelines
- Approve and process payroll deductions according to state and federal guidelines
- Monitor state and federal law changes as it relates to employee pay and compensation
- Pull GL ledger information to audit, research, and resolve cases assigned for payroll calculation/deduction related issues
- Conduct training for end-user on how to efficiently use our UltiPro software
- Void checks, stop pays, and direct deposit reversals
- Validate and administer YTD vacation and sick time balances; calculate carryovers
- Prepare and amend W-2, W-2C, and T4 as needed
- Create, update, and implement Standard Operating Procedures around payroll processes in Ultimate Software platform
- Calculate manual checks, involuntary terminations, missed hours, and special requests as needed
Job Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Demonstrated UKG/WFM experience
- 2-3 years of payroll/accounting experience in high volume, multi-state, corporate environment
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective problem solving and ability to resolve basic issues
- Strong analytical and math skills: identify trends and implement process improvements
- Basic computer skills in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of payroll lifecycles, best practices, and federal, state, and local regulations
- Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus
