Hewn, a nationally recognized and independently owned artisan bakery in Evanston, Illinois, is hiring a Store Manager for our new retail outpost in Winnetka, Illinois.
The Manager is responsible for ensuring that the store meets company standards in customer service, retail sales, staffing, and quality control.
The Manager works closely with the bakery owners and the Leadership Team, who are all based at the Evanston bakehouse.

This position will start in late August with training in our Evanston location. Our Winnetka outpost is slated to open in September.
Overall Responsibilities
The Manager fulfills all the responsibilities of front staff / barista while providing excellent customer service. They work to build positive relationships with customers and respond to customers' questions and concerns in a timely manner.
The Manager monitors the quality control and presentation of daily products, while adhering to food handlers safety, allergen and ServSafe requirements.
A current ServSafe Manager and Allergen certificate is required). The Manager completes all FOH duties including supervising and running the POS system, packaging and plating product, customer service, cleaning etc.
and directly supervises the FOH team. The Manager also works closely with the Wholesale Coordinator to ensure the proper delivery of items to the Winnetka location.
Management / Training and Supervision
The Manager schedules front staff, approves timesheets, and manages the training of staff in accordance with the Training Manual.
The Winnetka Manager will work closely with the other store managers regarding customer service, preparation and presentation of beverages, and operational procedures.
Lastly, the Manager also schedules and coordinates yearly reviews of the FOH staff, in consultation and collaboration with the Owners.
Orders
The Manager monitors all online orders and overall retail production, and coordinates those orders with the Evanston Leadership Team.
The Manager orders all retail and packaging items and food and drink items, and supervises inventory management of those items.
The Manager also helps to coordinate all special holiday orders with the Evanston Leadership Team.
Equipment / Maintenance
The Manager monitors the maintenance and cleanliness of the location and supervises and maintains the upkeep of our physical space.
The Manager assigns a daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning list for all FOH staff.
Collaboration / Communication
The Manager works with other Hewn Employees in a collaborative fashion and communicates with the Owners and Leadership Team to resolve any issues.
The Winnetka Manager participates in leadership meetings (either in person or over Zoom) and schedules / coordinates front staff meetings.
The manager is "on-call" with the responsibility to respond to problems or fill in when needed. They also attend community events / meetings as needed and coordinate community donations.

Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and be on your feet for an eight hour shift.
- Availability to work weekends and early morning shifts.
- Previous managerial experience and college degree is preferred.
- Retail and barista experience is required.
- Supervisory experience preferred
