Cost Accountant

HF Sinclair in Artesia, Mexico is seeking for an experienced Cost Accountant. The successful candidate will beresponsible for budgeting, forecasting, and recording of refinery operating expenses.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)

• Coordinates the development of refinery expense budget, monthly forecasting, and variance reporting which includes cost per barrel analysis, chemical, catalyst and additive analysis, comparisons to budget, projection and historical actual
• Oversees the expense project approval process and adherence to policy and procedures for closure and supplemental processing
• Manages cost control of major expense projects
• Prepares journal entries for accruals and reclasses
• Facilitates monthly reviews with cost center owners and plant management
• Provides ad hoc research and reporting of expenses
• Recommends cost reductions to management
• Coordinates project completion reports and project statuses with corporate
• Coordinates completion of the Solomon Survey expense tables

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from timeto time in their sole and complete discretion.

A minimum offive years of on-the-job experience or four years of directly related experience is required.

Familiar with GAAP, SAP, Oil and Gas experience is preferred.

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, in accounting, business or related field is required.

Ability to perform complex financial analysis. Knowledge of Microsoft products and experience with financial software. A broad understanding of finance and accounting practices and procedures is required. Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP). Ability to effectively communicate with other, both written and verbal communication, and manage projects and assignments with extreme accuracy and efficiency. Proficient with spreadsheet, database and word processing applications; analytical, problem solving and decision making skills. Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations. Intermediate reading and writing skills.
