Compensation Minimum:$20/hr Compensation Maximum:$22/hr We are looking for a summer intern to join us and make meaningful contributions this summer. At Homesite, you will get exposure to many aspects of the commercial insurance business – from Product to IT to Underwriting. As an actuarial intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way to Homesite’s growing commercial insurance business. You will be a part of our commercial product team and work on a variety of projects focused on product performance analytics. You will work closely with all members of the product team to review sales, profitability, customer experience and persistency trends—all while gaining an understanding of the commercial insurance market. Based on the analysis you perform, you will make actionable recommendations to improve the overall performance of our commercial product lines. Responsibilities: Work with department management to identify and define a summer-long project. The project work is intended to be of interest to the intern and of value to the Product Management department Analyze data sets to make business recommendations with the guidance of commercial product managers and actuaries Evaluate loss and underwriting performance by business segment Evaluate trend, loss development and rate adequacy of business segments Learn basics of sales, retention and persistency metrics Presentation of project findings and recommendations to business leaders at completion of internship Qualifications: In pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science or another quantitative field of study. Completion of sophomore or junior year is preferred. Actuarial Exam experience preferred Quantitative skills and proficiency in Excel Strong communication skills Experience with Python, R, VBA, SAS, SQL, Relational Databases or other data analysis software preferred but not required When you work at Homesite you can expect benefits that support your physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing.
