ASSISTANT HERDSPERSON
We are hiring an Assistant Herdsperson to join our team in providing daily care for our prized herd of Jersey cattle. If you are a responsible, hard-working individual looking to join a progressive, detail-oriented work environment, we want to hear from you.
This role contributes toward overall farm function and impacts the continuous improvement of animal care and welfare. It is essential that the candidate is detail-oriented and driven to maintain the cleanliness of facilities and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Daily calf care and feeding
- Daily equipment operation
- Prioritizing cattle comfort and care
- Working as a team to maintain overall herd health at all ages
- Maintaining cleanliness of facilities and equipment
- Assisting with cattle movement and group health events
- Maintaining and evaluating computer herd records
- General farm maintenance including fencing, water trough, and pasture upkeep
- Assisting in field management and hay production
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants are required to have a valid driver's license, the ability to lift at least 50 lbs, and experience working with livestock. Preference will be given to applicants with experience operating farm equipment.
SCHEDULE:
We have a 5-day work week, with 2 consecutive days off. A typical day schedule includes:
6:00 AM to 9:45 AM Morning Chores
9:45 AM to 12:45 PM Projects
12:45 PM to 2:00 PM Break (1 hr 15 min)
2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Afternoon Chores
Each employee is required to cover 3-4 days, bi-weekly, of scheduled on-call shifts for the robotic milking system. These shifts require the employee to confirm and clear the alarm by phone, immediately followed by showing up to the robots to resolve the issue.
It is expected that co-workers will support each other to cover time off. All employees are required to assist in feed production as needed. This may include longer hours during parts of the growing season.
