academic advising, academic achievement program, career services, first year

encourage them to design experiences that enable their success.
Job Summary
The primary function of this position is to provide academic advising and support to students in the LAS Access and Achievement Program. The cohort model for this position may be a combination of declared and undeclared AAP scholars.
Duties & Responsibilities
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the
deadline date. The target salary for this position is $49,000. Final
salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market
data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications,
collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
This position is unable to support candidates who require
work authorization sponsorship.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (remote
work and in-person work in Champaign-Urbana each week).

Duties & Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary Academic Advisor for students admitted into LAS Undeclared.
- Serves as a College Academic Advisor for students assigned to other specific cohorts in the LAS Access and Achievement Program including but not limited to honors, students in academic difficulty, LAS General Curriculum and other students who are in need of assistance from the College of LAS.
- Serves as a freshmen registration advisor for LAS Undeclared. Contributes to orientation and onboarding activities for new students in AAP.
- Teaches and assess a section of LAS 112: Design your College Success, a first-year experience course for LAS Undeclared.
- Monitors Student Engagement Reports submitted by Faculty Members for students at-risk of experiencing academic difficulties.
- Participates in the review of Late and Retro-active Drop reviews and other online administrative process queues. Participation in end-of-term academic progress review audits.
- Serves once a week as the walk-in advisor on duty rotation for LAS SAAO.
- Contributes to AAP Recruitment and Yield activities which may require overnight and weekend work on occasion Serves as a unit representative on internal and external committees or working groups, as needed. Other duties as assigned to further the mission of the unit.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a College of LAS major.
- One year of professional experience or two (2) years of graduate work experience working directly with students in secondary or higher education.
- Master's Degree or graduate studies in undergraduate education or liberal arts and sciences.
- At least one year of full-time professional experience in academic advising/ counseling, student coaching, or teaching of life skills.
- Organizational, communication, Interpersonal and assessment skills.
- Intercultural skills and a commitment to inclusive practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work from a strengths-based advising perspective.
- Demonstrated ability to track and assess student academic progress.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly those that enable the candidate to effectively communicate clearly with a wide range of constituencies including, students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni and partners.
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, with a wide range of on-campus and off-campus constituencies.

Knowledge of academic skills and student development issues associated with undergraduate student populations, especially
those that require enhanced advising and academic skills support. - Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Zoom, web and social media, Banner, and degree audit systems.
