Job Description:
The Building Caretaker works for the Board of Trustees of Highlands Masonic Temple Association with direct supervision from the Board Vice President. The caretaker is responsible for performing necessary safety inspections of the building and maintaining general upkeep of the building and grounds. The caretaker will work with the Temple's event coordinator to assist and redying the Temple for social events and/or masonic functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Security of the Temple and grounds is to be maintained twenty-four (24) / seven (7) doors and windows, offices and storage areas are secured daily. This will require the employee to live on the premises in a provided apartment.
2. Provide snow removal on all sidewalks around the Temple including the perimeter sidewalks around the Temple lot according to the City and County of Denver guidelines for snow removal.
3. Provide regular checks and verification of the working condition of the boiler system.
4. Provide regular checks and verification of the working conditions of all onsite appliances and equipment.
5. Ensure all areas of the Temple are cleaned and maintained regularly.
6. Provide regular checks and verification that the sprinkler system is in proper working order and make necessary repairs as needed.
7. Assist the Event Coordinator with setup and teardown of tables and chairs for events scheduled at the Temple.
8. Temple linens are to be cleaned and maintained for event use.
9. Bathrooms need to be maintained, cleaned, and properly stocked with appropriate bathroom supplies.
10. All trash is removed daily and deposited in on-site trash containers.
11. Provide general maintenance and/or repairs.
12. Provide general landscaping services to exterior areas and ensure the premises are clear of debris.
13. Any other duties that are assigned by the Board or Board vice president.
Qualifications:
Be physically fit and able to lift up to 75 lbs.
Ability to provide general maintenance around the building.
Has excellent communication and customer service skills.
Experience with using commercial cleaning equipment.
Familiarity with boilers, elevators, and tankless water heaters.
Ability to learn and react quickly.
High School diploma or relevant work experience preferred.
