What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Early Elementary Associate Teacher position at Highlands School?
Highlands School, an early childhood through 8th grade independent school, is currently seeking a skilled and engaging early elementary school teacher to help as an Associate Teacher in a self-contained early elementary school classroom. The strong candidate will possess deep conceptual knowledge of best practices as well as strong intellectual curiosity, the desire to inspire an appreciation for learning among students, a strong growth mindset relative to teaching and learning, and a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. This teacher will be expected to help design lessons for all academic areas including math, language arts, science and social studies while assisting in creating a classroom environment that promotes collaborative learning and incorporates project-based units of study to help students develop 21st Century Skills.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum AA Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education, Bachelor's Degree preferred
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to professional growth, personal development, and social-emotional learning
- Experience with differentiated instruction and an appreciation of each child as an individual with diverse needs
- Experience integrating technology and applying 21st century learning within the classroom
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Highlands Early Elementary Associate Teacher will:
- Help plan, supervise, and implement a challenging and developmentally appropriate program in accordance with the educational philosophy and policies of Highlands School, the curriculum’s scope and sequence, and the prescribed student objectives
- Help create a safe and engaging classroom community and differentiate for students as needed by employing a variety of instructional strategies and materials supported by best educational practices to enhance creative teaching/learning
- Assist in maintaining a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom
- Help plan and execute educational field experiences and engage guest lecturers through appropriate channels
- Help assess the learning of students frequently and analyze the data to drive instruction, teaching /learning
- Assist in maintaining current and accurate attendance records and assessment data to meet the demand for a comprehensive knowledge of each student’s progress
- Maintain open, supportive, and consistent communication with parents and administration
- Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff to promote a positive learning environment
- Attend all staff meetings, required school events, parent/teacher conferences, professional development days, and orientations/in-service
