Position Summary
As the Landscape Design Estimator, you will be responsible for creating high-quality landscape designs, construction documents, estimates, and proposals for current and new clients. As part of your responsibilities, you will work together with our maintenance and installation teams, as well as regularly communicate with clients to review projects and ensure their satisfaction. Collaboration is key to success in this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Follow company policies, procedures, and work standards.
- Produces quality landscape design with supporting materials such as sketches, elevations, rendered plans, etc.
- Creates quality and unique designs within budget parameters and on a timely basis.
- Provides accurate estimates on a consistent basis.
- Initiates and completes a site analysis of the project(s) with accuracy and on a timely basis.
- Prepares project packages of required drawings, estimates, and proposals.
- Communicates with Project Managers as required to update project status.
- Works independently and within a team on special and nonrecurring, as well as ongoing projects.
- Develops grading and drainage plans in accordance with site engineering principles.
- Uses appropriate survey equipment on various client sites.
- Provides accurate, professional plans and details for the construction department and subcontractors in an efficient and effective manner.
- Obtain prices/bids from appropriate subcontractors and bidders.
- Ensures efficient process and information flow for workload requirements.
- Identifies zoning and building codes, permit requirements, etc. related to the project.
- Consistently evaluates work and determines if further steps are needed to meet internal and external client expectations.
- Redline peer's design and constantly push design creativity.
- Develops a design schedule for supporting design team members.
- Maintain a high standard of quality of all work performed.
- Supervise and mentor junior team members.
- Communicate problems, client concerns, associate matters, etc., to Project Managers.
- Participate in weekly departmental and training meetings.
- Complete appropriate paperwork in a timely manner and ensure the accuracy of all paperwork, including time-off requests and other necessary information.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
Knowledge And Skill Requirements
- 3 plus years experience as a Landscape Designer.
- Demonstrate a superior comprehension of landscape terminology, botanical resources, appropriate building materials, and coordination of design.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of site engineering and proficiency in survey equipment usage.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of the scanner and large format printer.
- Ability to work in a team environment, including taking direction and constructive feedback, and providing necessary feedback to team members.
- Demonstrate flexibility to perform duties wherever volume deems necessary.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with all associates and clients on a consistent basis.
- Ability to deliver quality results and tight deadlines.
- Technical aptitude and ability to learn and use company software and systems for estimating and designing.
- Demonstrates a commitment to self-development and continuous learning.
- Demonstrated accountability for work being performed and completed on schedule.
Working Conditions
The job involves occasional physical activity such as standing and reaching, as well as extended periods of sitting. There may be times when evening and weekend work is necessary to meet client requirements and deadlines.
