Your Team

As part of an R&D team, the Manager of R&D will manage the successful completion of projects/tasks/studies within boundaries of quality, time, and budget. *

What you'll be doing

• Manages direct reports and provides technical direction to staff. *
• Based on significant technical expertise, reviews and approves complex design concepts.
• Demonstrate general understanding of theories/practices of a variety of disciplines.
• Develop effective project schedules and manage budgets, including capital.
• Employ project management tools to manage to those project schedules and budgets; review and apply best-demonstrated practices, team processes, and improve operational efficiency.
• Seek regular input and feedback from customers and take appropriate action.
• Identify and initiate discussion of key business issues affecting the project (e.g., timing of market entry, innovative technology, and costs).
• Understand and effectively communicate to team members about the market niche, competitive forces influencing the project, and how the project fits into the function's strategic focus/plan.
• Generate innovative solutions to complex problems through the use of multiple disciplines and technical principles.
• Create innovative products/processes/methods through novel combinations of expertise within the organization.
• Collaborate with other functional managers and project managers to ensure project priorities and project schedules are met.
• Manage team members to effectively transfer technology from design development to implementation.
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant Quality System Regulations and other regulatory requirements related to research and development (product development, design, and safety) to ensure compliance in all research, data collection and reporting activities.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of experience, 5-7 years of experience with a Masters Degree and 2-4 years' experience with a PHD
• Knowledge of GMPs, FDA guidelines.
• Capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience, as well as project management tools. *
• Able to design and implement projects/studies in own area of expertise. *
• Must demonstrate effective supervisory/leadership skills.
• Must be well versed in scientific disciplines.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $112,000 to $154,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
