SCOPE:
This position will be responsible for directing and administering all culinary functions of the bank's dining facility in the Hills office, including planning, preparing, and serving food items and daily meals for the bank's employees and guests, as well as catering meals for special events. Also responsible for daily cleaning of the dining facility and appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment. Must be knowledgeable of and comply with all standards regarding sanitation, health and personal hygiene.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Administration of Culinary Functions:
- Develop weekly menus and catering menus for special events ensuring a variety of seasonal, fresh and healthful foods.
- Prepare and cook daily meal items for up to 150 employees and bank guests.
- Serve daily meals for employees and guests across the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Cater meals for special events upon request and preapproval from senior management (Business Unit Leader).
- Purchase and maintain food items, supplies and inventory, including proper storage and cataloging.
- Evaluate pricing for all menu items and provide recommendations to bank management for review.
- Ensure the dining facility and kitchen areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. This includes cleaning the facility and kitchen areas before and after lunch hours and maintaining the appearance and operation of all equipment and serving areas.
- Comply with all Johnson County Health Department requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of an annual budget for the cafeteria.
- Compile and maintain records of food use and expenditures. Monitor menus and spending in order to ensure that meals are prepared economically.
- Requisition food supplies, kitchen equipment, and appliances, based on estimates of future needs.
Other Duties:
- As part of the overall team of bank employees, this position may be requested to assist in the support of other bank activities.
EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires prior cooking experience in a professional environment, good communication skills, working well without supervision and being a self-starter.
- High school diploma or GED. Transferrable training from a community college, technical school, culinary arts school, or apprenticeship program. Certification from the American Culinary Federation a plus.
- ServSafe certification required.
- Two years' experience acting as a chef in the restaurant or catering industry. 5-10 years of prior food handling.
- The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- To reduce risks, wear protective clothing such as long-sleeve cotton shirts and non-slip shoes.
- My occasionally be required to work early mornings, late evenings, and/or weekends.
- This job requires skills needed in a typical office environment. This includes computer skills, communications skills, as well as utilization of office equipment.
