Specialist Family Crisis Support - Part-Time

We have an amazing opportunity for a Family Crisis Support Specialist to be Part-Time, 8 hours/week with a flexible schedule based on families' needs.

As a Family Crisis Support Specialist you will be responsible for engaging and working with children and families over a short-term period.  This allows you the opportunity to gain a new understanding of the child's behavior, and to gather information and establish need statements based on meeting with the family and the child. You will also be involved in connecting children and families to services in the community that will meet their needs longer term.

This is a wonderful position where you will work in a small team environment, assisting youth and families stabilize their home environment. We work collaboratively with a variety of community programs and agencies, including the hospital, schools and therapists.
 

Responsibilities:

• Work in conjunction with the parent advocate and the family to establish need statements, in addition to the duration and frequency of service.
• Assist in the identification of youth/family strengths, including methods to build and support identified strengths acknowledging the impact of trauma and stress. 
• Use information gained through assessment and review to describe and gain an understanding of the child's behavior, and share information with the parents according to the Functional Behavioral Approach. 
• Complete records and track activities as required by funder, administrator, and mentor including satisfaction tools and other quality data.
• Responsible for identifying child and family's formal and informal supports.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related area of study
• 1 year(s) of experience working in the Human Services field
• Must have a strong understanding of community services and the ability to engage with children and their families
• Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License, and be able to meet driving and insurance requirements

  $18.36 Minimum Rate per hour, $27.54 Maximum Rate per hour, based on experience.
