Hingham Public Schools seeks an exceptional Digital Literacy and Computer Science and/or Instructional Technology Specialist who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners and leaders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who desire to serve where their efforts matter in the K-5 classrooms. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESThe CS teacher will provide computer science instruction to students in grades K-5. Lessons will be aligned with the Massachusetts Digital Literacy and Computer Science standards.Computing and Society -Understand HPS Acceptable Use Policy, cyberbullying and online safety (ex sites: Stopbullying.gov, brainpop.com, fes.typingagent.com) -Understand the role of online advertising, the power of access to technology and assistive technologyDigital Tools and Collaboration -Collaboratively use digital tools to communicate ideas, present and exchange information (Google docs, sheets, slides, classroom, Canva, Green Screen) -Evaluate online sources to create artifacts that express thoughts and ideas (ex: animal projects, State reports, Native Americans, Massachusetts -Type 5 words per minute times grade level (grade 5 = 25 wpm) (fes.typingagent.com)Computing Systems -Understand a range of computing devices, their function, and how to troubleshoot -Have a basic understanding of networking (ex: wireless, ethernet, Bluetooth)Computational Thinking -Use logical reasoning to create an algorithm to solve a problem (eng.
Design cycle) -Create, test and debug a program using block-based code (scratch.org, blockly, code.org, BeeBots, Dash, Dot, Sphero, Osmo)Utilize classroom management skills to create an environment conducive to learningCollaborate with classroom teachers to integrate technology into the core curriculumSupport-Perform first-level troubleshooting for Chromebooks, SmartBoards, Desktop Computers, iPads, printers (monitor and change cartridges and fix jams)-Coordinate school-wide presentations, maintain the technology cart -Assist classroom projects that could include the creation of iMovie files, support with student google presentations on iPads and Chromebooks-Stay current in professional practices, maintain active professional memberships-Maintain the annual CS building budget that includes printer cartridges, projector bulbs and other miscellaneous tech devices needed-Other responsibilities as directed by Principal Qualifications - Required1.Education: Hold a Bachelors degree or Masters degree in the appropriate area2.Hold a license in either: 1)Instructional Technology Specialist Teacher - All Levels, or 2) K-5 Digital Literacy and Computer Science License3.Meets all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.4.Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.Qualifications - Preferred: 1.Degree in Education2.In order to best serve all students, would prefer to be certified in Moderate DisabilitiesPlymouth River Elementary School (PRS) is a K-5 school with a little under 400 students.
