Hino Motors Manufacturing is an OEM that assembles trucks in West Virginia, automotive components in Arkansas, and operates a parts distribution center in California.

We are currently seeking a Chemical Compliance Specialist for our Corporate office located in Novi, Michigan reporting directly to the AM. This individual will be responsible for the collection and management of chemical data related to our automotive and medium to heavy duty truck assemblies manufactured here in the US.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Bill of Material (BoM) reviews and verification within a collaborative working environment
  • Handling of supplier requests for chemical composition of supplied products
  • Tracking of supplier responses & requests for timely data submissions and supplier compliance scoring in data tracking system
  • Verify, validate and review of chemical data submissions in internet-based data systems (IMDS & CDX)
  • Aid with the management of internal restricted/prohibited substance lists according to current regulation(s)
  • Aid with the compilation of supplier data in preparation for customer submission requests
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives involving chemical management
  • Work with multiple departments to gather information on purchased parts by supplier for current and future model major assemblies and trucks
  • Prepare, send and follow-up of supplier data requests for submission of chemical data
  • Data entry and maintenance of chemical management tracking system
  • Create simple to complex datasheets in internet-based data systems
  • Contribute to chemical management system process and procedure development

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or quality related field
  • 3 years’ work experience as technical support person that has familiarity with materials documentation and ability to access basic information from technical drawings; and, basic to mid-level knowledge of chemical reporting, compliance and product regulation.

Skills Required

  • Skilled in Problem Solving Methods
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and other computer applications/programs.
  • Knowledge of Toyota Production System and Toyota SQAM requirements preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of component suppliers, Internal, and External Quality Systems.
  • Proficient in the use of quality gauging equipment.
  • Ability to effectively manage all aspects of a quality system.
  • Experience in IATF 16949 activity (or equivalent).
