Chief Financial Officer
Summary:
One of our best clients, who provides high quality services in the environmental construction arena by bringing a combination of strong environmental science and practical “hands-on” construction experience to the marketplace, is looking for a Chief Financial Officer. The primary focus will be managing the entire financial affairs, but also participating in the operational management of select divisions of the company as needed. Serve as a trusted business advisor to the CEO/President and participate as a member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic financial input, influence and leadership on the business strategy and operations for continued growth of organizational value and company performance.
The Chief Financial Officer must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a finance role within the construction industry.
Chief Financial Officer Job Requirements:
- 10 years’ experience in finance role in construction industry, preferably in environmental construction
- An executive that is both financially minded and operationally focused
- Equally comfortable and skilled at managing the full financial picture of the company and overseeing a business division
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related area MBA is desired (having a CPA license is not required)
- Having a legal background of contractual review is required
- Understanding of financial statements and US GAAP accounting
- Capital markets, personal and corporate finance experience
- Prior Experience managing the operations of a business unit at a medium-sized or large organization is a plus
- Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a high level of curiosity
- Exceptional time management skills/ability to plan, execute & deliver multiple concurrent projects in a timely manner
- Very detail oriented with strong leadership and project management skills
- Excellent analytical, written communication and organizational skills
- Strong decision-making skills and high energy team player
Chief Financial Officer Job Responsibilities:
- Required to manage and prepare company financial statements, prepare cash flow, sales and budget forecasts, track business unit performance, review and approve financial modeling for contracts, assist with traditional audit activities, work on potential M&A deal related tasks, including compiling valuations, managing due diligence, and presenting comparative financing options for deals and business growth
- Work with banks, private investment firms, bonding companies, and other financial institutions to make decisions around lending or other financial partnerships, including raising debt and equity
- Develop and cultivate strong financial analysis and internal reporting within Accounting and Finance that informs business decision making, and making and allows the leadership team to have greater insight into key metrics of business performance and consumer-facing trends
- Design and develop performance improvement initiatives to reduce costs and operate with best-in-class efficiency
- Review and approve all contracts to ensure compliance, limiting company liability, bonding requirements, pricing and that the best interests of the company are protected
- Function as a key interface to our banking, bonding, and business partners; communicate the company’s financial health, business value, strategy, and operational excellence, ensuring recognition of the inherent value of our product and service portfolio
- Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the strategic plan, including mergers/acquisitions and new business partnerships
- Evaluate actual company financial performance against the annual business plan and to industry benchmarks
- Provide vision and leadership to the Accounting & Finance team. Foster an environment of problem solving, efficiency, improved business practices, along with building the next generation of leaders
- Provide management of all aspects of the FOUNDATION accounting software used in the company and supervise all accounting staff in its proper use
- Collaborate directly with company CPA’s and law firms
- Discreet handling of confidential information
- Oversee the operations of all divisions, participate in the development of new efficiencies and operating strategies, manage business development, institute strict project cost accounting practices, and establish strategic partnerships
