POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide plays an important role in ensuring patient and family dietary needs are met, maintaining clean and sanitary food areas, and providing excellent customer service.

- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Previous institutional dietary service experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write and understand directions in the English language
- Food Safety Certification highly desirable
- Excellent basic math skills required for proper meal preparation and for measuring the appropriate amount of cleaning agents and chemicals.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform defined work routines, using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
- Provide assistance with meal preparation and service of meals.
- Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
- Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department policies and procedures.
- Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
- Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
- Wash and store dishes.
- Follow established reporting procedures and reports and discrepancies in his/her area to the Dietary Supervisor for the following:
- Report supply or equipment needs.
- Report any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair.
- Report any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment.
- Report any conditions conducive to breeding insects, rodents or other vermin.
- Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
- Attend in-service educational programs.
- Follow defined safety codes while performing all duties.
- Follow defined Infection Control procedures.
- Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
- Handles food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures
- Operates equipment in a safe manner
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation through entire work areas
- Performs daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures; Scrubs and mops floors, cleans and sanitizes equipment
- Stocks food and paper goods in the storeroom area
- Puts Customer Service First: Ensures that Patients, Co-Workers and Families receive the highest quality of service in an attentive and responsive atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights
