Position Summary
The
Education Specialist works under the direct supervision of the Education
Coordinator to assist with all aspects of coordinating the Youth Advisory
Council and with educational presentations to the community about HIV/AIDS and
HIV Alliance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Assist the Education Coordinator in the development and execution of all aspects of Youth Advisory Council and educational programming, including:
Required
Qualifications
1
year of experience with patient/client interaction and/or 2 years of
administrative experience
Experience
or training/education in providing evidence-based public health or related
service
Experience
working with youth and educators
Comfortable
discussing sex, drug use, and HIV/AIDS
Knowledge
of the unique issues affecting high-risk communities and willingness to learn
about culturally relevant interventions for gay and bisexual men, people who
inject drugs and people living with HIV/AIDS
Willingness
to work with:
Ability
to work on a team successfully and effectively
Effective
spokesperson and advocate – ability to negotiate and represent agency and
importance of HIV/AIDS issues
Ability
to communicate in group setting, facilitation skills a plus
Ability
to build and maintain bridges between HIV Alliance and its clients, other
non-profit agencies, governmental entities, key community stakeholder
Experience
with Outlook, Word, Excel, and Social Media outreach/technology like Instagram,
TikTok, etc.
Detail-oriented
Ability
to work with diverse population
Excellent
verbal communication and writing skills
Strong
record keeping and organizational skills
Flexible
hours required, including some evenings and weekend
Team
player who is self-motivated, high-energy, and enthusiastic
TB
test (provided at agency)
Valid
Oregon driver’s license, driving record sufficient to be covered by agency auto
insurance policy, ability to transport self to job-related events and locations
Comfortable
driving in inclement weather
Ability
to use a computer, sit and stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to
30lbs
Ability
to pass agency criminal background check
