What are the responsibilities and job description for the Media Director position at HLK?

We are looking for an experienced Media Director with a diverse background in digital and traditional media to be part of a growing media department. This position serves a critical role in casting strategic media vision for our clients, inspiring growth among team members, and providing innovative thinking in the paid media space. You’ll be challenged to set the working style for the group, lead the strategic media direction for the line of business, and establish strong relationships with the brands that you serve. We have a team full of emerging talent, and this role requires someone who can foster that talent and continue to develop the team to maximize the quality of output. Principle Responsibilities

  • Continually strive to seek innovative ways to find solutions for our clients
  • Media product/service delivery
  • Team operations and team output
  • Drive development of team members
  • Primary media contact with clients on assigned accounts


Team Management

  • Manages media planners, providing regular support and guidance and driving communication across the team and with partners to deliver for clients
  • Manage personal development plans for all direct reports
  • Provide regular support and advice to help progress direct reports
  • Drive communication and collaboration across the team


Campaign Management

  • Creates all aspects of a media plan, including developing strategy, selecting appropriate vendors, and working closely with search and paid social teams on recommended tactics and the analytics team to ensure proper tracking is enabled
  • Create and manage media campaigns to effectively deliver brand objectives and targets
  • Ensure best practices setup and ongoing management of campaigns
  • Oversee optimization of campaigns to deliver ongoing performance
  • Manage monthly campaign budgets to align with brand objectives/targets
  • Drive client reporting POV, working alongside an Customer Experience Strategists and other team members


Moving Business Forward

  • Help drive innovation and creative solutions for brands
  • Reflect the agency core values and vision in all work as well as lead and inspire the team to follow high standards
  • Able to produce high-quality work within a fast-paced, dynamic environment


Other

  • Maintain expert knowledge of all paid media vehicles and contributes to agency education and knowledge sharing
  • Works closely with Customer Experience Strategists, Account Managers, Media Buying team and relevant subject matter experts to develop an overall paid media plans
  • Partner with colleagues day to day to further elevate media and creative
  • Proactively seek vendor partnerships and educate the team on new vendors
  • Seek out areas to continually learn and develop skill sets
  • Foster strong working relationships with our brand partners


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • Ten-plus years of media planning/strategy experience with three-plus years managing staff
  • Comfortable working in all forms of paid media including programmatic display/native/video, streaming video/audio, location-based platforms, social platforms, Google Suite (paid search, YouTube, Gmail, etc.), trade publications/sites, linear TV, DRTV, terrestrial radio, out-of-home and print
  • Ability to strategically assess opportunities quickly and make data-driven decisions resulting in tangible improvements in performance
  • An up-to-date knowledge of all key consumer insight tools, including DMPs, digital resources, data insight and execution tools
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • A strong communicator with effective writing and presenting skills, a positive attitude, and a strong desire to get things done
  • A proactive, progressive media expert who considers themselves a digital innovator
  • Passionate about the world of media and marketing and have the ability to provide persuasive and compelling perspectives on media strategy
  • Strong opinions are more than welcome on this team, and the ideal candidate would create an environment where healthy discussion and debate on all forms of media is welcome
